The picture perfect Father’s Day, portrayed in movies and Hallmark cards, isn’t always a reality for all. We recognize that Father’s Day brings unique experiences for everyone, especially this year… for first time fathers, fathers away from their sons and daughters, those unable to be with their fathers due to the virus, those who had to make difficult decisions on behalf of their father’s wellbeing, those grieving the loss of their fathers… We see you. You are not alone.

A Father’s Day message

For Fathers…

We know that the days are long and the years are short. Yet it is such a beautiful ride. You know the secret to being a good father – being there. We hope that the feeling you got from the first “I love you, Daddy” makes up for any headache caused by teenage antics. Some days it feels like you have fatherhood all figured out and other days you are just getting by. You are doing your best and we love you for it. Fatherhood takes patience and determination.

“Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song.” – Pam Brown.

Though you may not always tell your sons and daughters you love them, you show it. We can see that.

“You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes.” – Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

Fatherhood is a joy – is the greatest understatement.

Thank you, Dad …

For being the example I wanted to follow.
For teaching me to ride a bike.
For teaching me what hard work is.
For modeling what it’s like to be a good member of a community.
For your wisdom.
For always believing in me.
For being there, on the good days and the hard days.
For showing me how to be a good parent, a good person.
For teaching me how to change a tire, even if I’ve forgotten.
For holding my hand, and having my back.
For long road trips with oldies blaring.
For taking JOY in fatherhood.

“Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and forever dear.” – Author unknown

Houston Jewish Funerals

The Houston Jewish Funerals story is not about us, it is about you. Our story is about the families who trust us, the caregivers who call us in the middle of the night, and the rabbis who recommend us to their congregation. Our philosophy is to treat your family as if it were our own.
